Land Use Update

by Barbara Aderhold

21-1338

Distinctive Stables on Boy Scout Road – they are bringing their property into compliance with the rules/regs of Hillsborough County.

This has been continued to the Feb 14th Zoning Hearing Master meeting.

21-1224

The borrow pit on Lutz Lake Fern Road – this has been continued to a March BOCC date. The applicant’s Special Use Permit (SUP) and Operational permit expired in December of 2021. The applicant has to apply for a new Special Use Permit, and this goes before the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC). Going before the BOCC for a Special Use permit is new. In the past the SUP was heard in front of a Land Use Hearing Officer – and the LUHO determined who did/did not get the permit.

There is another permit that the applicant must apply for after a SUP is granted and that is an Operating Permit. One cannot get an Operating Permit without a Special Use Permit.

There is also some current Code Violations that the applicant should/must address.

Weigh in! Should commercial or other activities be allowed in or near your @HillsboroughFL neighborhood?

There’s still time to take a survey or post the idea wall thru 1/28. Or join us for a hybrid meeting on 1/20 @ 5:30-7:30p. Participate and learn more here.

December 2021 – Unincorporated Hillsborough County citizens are encouraged to assist the Planning Commission with the Commercial-Location Criteria Study for Unincorporated Hillsborough County by telling us what changes to the requirements you would like to see. The purpose of the study is to determine the best location for future commercial uses and to make it easier for neighborhood-serving commercial uses to locate in areas convenient for residents.

A community meeting has been scheduled for January 20, 2022 at 5:30pm to give you the opportunity to weigh in and to discuss proposed changes being considered to the Commercial Locational Criteria (CLC) contained in the County’s Comprehensive Plan. This meeting will be held in a hybrid format. Register to attend the Microsoft Teams meeting virtually. To participate in-person, please register by emailing Andrea Papandrew at papandrewa@plancom.org as space will be limited.

You can still visit our interactive survey page to provide input at https://tinyurl.com/HillsboroughCLC to take a brief online survey and post on the interactive community idea wall through January 28.
